The NAFTA Institute Supplier Meet the Buyer Trade Conference is hosted every year by the International Business Accelerator (IBA) for anyone interested in international trade and curious to learn about business opportunities on the border. The conference this year is on Thursday, 16 June and is taking place literally, just a few miles North of the U.S./Mexican border in Sunland Park, NM at the Racetrack & Casino.
The conference is one of a kind because conference organizers work months prior to the actual event to set up business to business meetings between companies on both sides of the border. This isn’t your typical conference where organizers take your money and leave you to network on your own, but rather if you register, the IBA team will make sure you are matched with people you need to do business with. The goal of the conference is to have contracts signed during the event or shortly thereafter, and with about 30 maquiladora purchasing managers already scheduled to attend this is not an event you want to miss.
In addition to the business to business meetings there are always informative and content packed presentations given by state officials and business leaders in the area who share their insights on business opportunities on the border and resources that are available to help grow your business. A few of this years presentations include, Financing International Transactions, Expansion of Santa Teresa Port of Entry, an Overview of the Foxconn Project and much more. These presentations alone are worth the mere $99 it costs to attend the NAFTA Institute conference.
I’m personally attending the conference to begin working with New Mexican companies interested in learning how to export their products to Mexico or other countries abroad. My company, Beyond Borders Consulting is on contract with the state of New Mexico to provide free consultation services to New Mexican companies and expand your business by finding buyers in other countries. If you are doing business in New Mexico, I’m looking forward to meeting you at the conference to help you meet the requirements of having an export ready product and tear down the barriers that exist when doing business in foreign countries.
If you are a business on the border, regardless of whether you do any international business or not this is a must attend event. Companies from around the world that do business with companies in either of the three NAFTA countries fly in to be a part of this conference. By the way, if you are flying in you want to come into the El Paso International airport, which is a twenty minute drive from the Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino.

Hi there,
I’d like to explore with NM companies the possibilities of them developing export markets for their products in Africa. Let me know if this is of interest for you!
Hi Vivien
Yes, would love to hear more about what you are working on. Are you located in NM? The only thing I need is for you to sign and date this form http://www.adrianchilders.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/Gateway-to-Exporting-Client-Form.pdf which is to help me keep track of people I talk to about this initiative to help companies in NM export their product. You can email it back to me at adrian [at] adrianchilders [dot] com or fax it to 561-658-8088. In the email you send me, include your contact information and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
May I have as much information as possible, please!
The conference was yesterday. Sorry you missed it. Hope you can make it to next years.
